Personnel
Everest Metro is comprised of 29 sworn officers and is structured like most para-military police organizations. Led by Chief Clayton Schulz, command support comes from Operations Captain Shane Heilmann and Administrative Captain Nicholas Aldrich.
Patrol and Investigations make up the department's Operations Division.
The "backbone" of any Police Department, Patrol is comprised of four Sergeants and fourteen Patrol Officers. All perform the traditional functions of a motorized patrol force. In addition, Patrol is extremely service oriented. The philosophy of Patrol is high visibility and proactive policing through officer initiated activity.
Several of the Patrol personnel have additional duties and responsibilities assigned, which is in addition to their primary patrol function. Some of these extra duties are: Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) K9 handler, departmental training, evidence processing and collection, community service, and crash reconstruction.
Investigations is a support function to Patrol. The two Detectives assigned, handle the majority of all major investigations. These investigations are usually very in-depth and lengthy. They are trained in crime scene processing, video and photographic techniques, evidence collection, interview and interrogation skills, as well as numerous other related specialties. A third Officer/Investigator is assigned to the Marathon County Special Investigations Unit, a narcotics task force.
Additionally, the department has three specifically trained School Resource Officers who are permanently assigned to provide coverage to a school or a set of schools.
